PROCESSIONAL ARTS WORKSHOP
Location: Roaming
Time: All evening

Processional Arts Workshop (PAW), led by Alex Kahn and Sophia Michahelles, creates site-specific art parades and Carnivalesque events worldwide, including the giant puppet works that lead New York’s annual Village Halloween Parade. PAW's performances involve volunteers at every stage of production, employing pageant puppetry, mobile architecture, shadow and projection, and mask and costume, as a means to reflect on distinctively local themes and narratives. They have created works for the High Line, Socrates Sculpture Park, Trinidad Carnival, the Architectural League’s Beaux Arts Ball, Miami’s Vizcaya Museum, Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors, and the Obamas’ White House. In addition PAW, has worked with communities worldwide to create processions for locales ranging from the streets of Kiev to the South Bronx; from the Italian Alps to rural Texas. PAW’s work has been recognized with numerous awards, including a Fulbright Fellowship to Trinidad, a Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation Artists and Communities Grant, a CEC Artslink Grant, and a Witt Residency at University of Michigan.
