<p><a href="http://www.lorenzolaroc.com/" target="_blank"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-455" title="lorenzo" src="http://www.winterseve.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/lorenzo.jpg" alt="" width="250" height="144" />Lorenzo Laroc</a> &#8211; A native New Yorker who began playing the violin at age eight, Lorenzo Laroc’s signature trademark &#8211; a custom made, five string plexi-glass electric violin/viola &#8211; and the passion with which he plays expresses both his musical versatility and his deep love for music. Along with the electric violin, Laroc plays, composes, and arranges jazz, rock and Latin music and other styles. He has formed a group of New York City musicians, Masterpiece, and seeks to bring the electric violin to popular audiences everywhere. <em>Location: Century 21 Department Store, 1972 Broadway at 66<sup>th</sup> Street, 6:15pm and 7:15pm</em></p>
<p><em></em><a href="http://www.bachvespersnyc.org/" target="_blank">Bach Vespers</a> - From the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Bach Vespers offers audiences the unique historic experience of hearing full Bach cantatas steeped in the German Baroque tradition. Catch them on Winter’s Eve, and if you’d like to attend Bach Vespers in their original setting at Holy Trinity, please note that they are free and open to the public every Sunday at 5:00pm through April 29. These lovely candlelit vespers feature organ music, choral motets, chamber music and hymn singing, all under the direction of Cantor Rick Erickson. <em>Location: Bed Bath and Beyond, 1934 Broadway between 64<sup>th</sup> and 65<sup>th </sup>Streets, 7:00pm- 8:30pm</em></p>
<p><a href="http://www.stephanewrembel.com/" target="_blank">Stephane Wrembel Trio</a>  - Josh Baron of Relix Magazine calls French- born jazz guitarist Stephane Wrembel “One of the greatest guitar players I’ve ever seen…,” David Fricke of Rolling Stone Magazine raves “A REVELATION,” and <em>All About Jazz</em> urges, “Don’t miss [the] opportunity to see a truly astonishing<br />
talent in action…” Wrembel, who performs solo and under the name The Stephane Wrembel Trio, has issued several albums, and his works have been included on the soundtrack for numerous Woody Allen films. Heavily influenced by world music, Wrembel is perhaps best known as a composer and performer of gypsy jazz. <em>Location: The Empire Hotel Rooftop, 44 West 63<sup>rd</sup> Street between Broadway and Columbus Avenue, 6:30pm &#8211; 9:30pm </em>- To access the rooftop, enter the Hotel Lobby and take the elevator to the 12<sup>th </sup>Floor.  The views will be beautiful and the music promises to be spectacular!</p>
<p><a href="http://www.myspace.com/the69thstreetband" target="_blank">69<sup>th</sup> Street Band</a> - Bringing some local talent to Winter’s Eve, the 69<sup>th</sup> Street Band will play at Ollie’s Atrium throughout the evening. <p>Accomplished composer, arranger, and jazz bassist extraordinaire <a href="http://www.christianmcbride.com/" target="_blank">Christian McBride </a>will wow the Winter’s Eve crowds at the Apple store, located on Broadway at 67<sup>th </sup>Street. Although he is not yet 40, Christian McBride has become one of the most important and renowned jazz figures of the past 20 years. He began his career in 1989 at Juilliard, and shot to stardom. Aside from being a star in his own right, Christian has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the Jazz, R&amp;B, Pop, and hip-hop worlds. He will perform with his quartet, Inside Straight, at 7:00 p.m., showcasing tracks from his new album, “Conversations with Christian.”</p>

The Festival of Lights is an event where the students of NYIT come together to educate and celebrate their different cultures. The holidays that will be represented are: Hanukkah, Christmas, Eid, Diwali and Kwanzaa. There will be performances representing each holiday ranging from singers, dancers, musicians, and poetry. Each holiday represented will be passing out items that represent the culture. Come and enjoy food, entertainment, and culture with the NYIT family!</p>
<p>At the <a href="http://www.pcs-nyc.org/" target="_blank">Professional Children&#8217;s School</a>, located just west of Columbus Avenue on 60th Street, student singers, dancers and instrumentalists will delight all with a Classical and Popular sampling at 6:00pm.</p>

<p>At Kids’ Central at the American Bible Society (Broadway and 61<sup>st </sup>Street), don’t miss the face-painting and tattoo station hosted by the <a href="http://www.ymcanyc.org/westside" target="_blank">West Side YMCA</a>, a seed-planting activity courtesy of the <a href="http://www.nysec.org/" target="_blank">New York Society for Ethical Culture</a>, and a cross cultural craft activity with <a href="http://www.folkartsrajasthan.org/" target="_blank">Folk Arts Rajasthan</a>. <p>There will also be storytelling and small gifts for kids at the <a href="http://www.nypl.org/locations/riverside" target="_blank">New York Public Library’s Riverside Branch</a>, 66<sup>th</sup> Street and Amsterdam Avenue.</p>
<p>Finally, we are lucky enough to have <em>three</em> Santas visiting Lincoln Square during Winter’s Eve- say hi to Santa at <a href="http://www.gracioushome.com/" target="_blank">Gracious Home </a>(1992 Broadway at 67<sup>th</sup> Street), take a professional picture with Santa at <a href="http://www.brooksbrothers.com/" target="_blank">Brooks Brothers </a>(1934 Broadway at 65<sup>th</sup> Street), and meet St. Nicholas at the <a href="http://www.stpaultheapostle.org/" target="_blank">Church of St. Paul the Apostle </a>(Columbus Avenue at 60<sup>th </sup>Street). St. Paul’s will also be hosting a special screening of <em>Charlie Brown’s Christmas</em>.</p>

<p>At home on the Broadway, concert and rock stages <a href="http://www.morganjames.org/" target="_blank">Morgan James </a>is one of the country’s most sought-after singers.  She is a versatile vocalist, easily maneuvering between genres. As a solo artist, she has played to sold-out crowds throughout New York City with her seven-piece soul band, and her smaller ensembles.  Morgan James’ Broadway credits include the first-ever Broadway revival of <em>Godspell</em> (singing “Turn Back, O Man”), and the original casts of Frank Wildhorn&#8217;s <em>Wonderland</em> (where she covered, and closed the Broadway cast playing, Alice), and <em>The Addams Family</em>. Regional theatre credits include leading roles at Barrington Stage Company, Paper Mill Playhouse, The O’Neill Theatre Center, and Arizona Theatre Company.  She was a featured soloist in Bernstein’s MASS with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Marin Alsop) at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center and has also sung with the Utah Symphony. With her rock n’ soul band she has sold out performances at popular NY nightspots such as Birdland, Dominion, Joe’s Pub, Le Poisson Rouge, and Rockwood Music Hall.</p>
